Grow With Me Chair & Accessories: User Guide

⚠️ WARNING!

Please follow the manufacturer's instructions and Niji Bébé videos for the assembly of the Grow With Me Chair (formerly known as the Scandinavian Adjustable High Chair). Niji Bébé cannot be held responsible for any issues arising from incorrect assembly, usage, or attachment that deviates from our guidance.

  • Supervision is essential: Never leave your child unattended in the high chair.
  • The Grow With Me Baby Set should only be used with the seat plate positioned in the first groove from the top of the chair.
  • Always use the restraint system when the seat plate is in one of the top three grooves.
  • Ensure the harness is always properly fitted and securely fastened. Most injuries from high chairs occur due to falls.
  • Always keep your child in view and stay within reach.
  • Do not use the chair unless all components are correctly assembled and adjusted. Pay special attention to the seat plate and footrest – ensure these are properly secured before placing your child in the chair.
  • Keep away from heat sources: Do not place the chair near open flames or other heat sources, such as electric or gas fires.
  • Always place the chair on a level, stable surface and ensure the chair has sufficient space to slide backwards.
  • Keep the high chair away from furniture, walls, hot surfaces, liquids, electrical cords, and window covering cords to avoid potential hazards.
  • Safety tip: When not in use at a table, remove the Grow With Me Tray and position the high chair away from furniture and surfaces that may pose a risk.
  • Use only authorised accessories: Only use Niji Bébé accessories and replacement parts. The use of non-approved parts may compromise your child's safety.
  • Do not use the chair if any part is damaged, broken, or missing.
  • Age suitability: The Grow With Me Chair is designed for children who are able to sit unaided, approximately from 6 months old.
  • The front of the footrest should not extend beyond the front legs of the chair at floor level.
  • **Never use the Grow With Me Baby Set without the Grow With Me Extended Glider Set attached.
  • Check all screws for tightness regularly, especially 2-3 weeks after assembly. Continue to check and retighten them every couple of months if necessary.
  • Keep the Allen key out of the reach of children for safety.
  • If the chair is used with a Grow With Me Tray, please note that the tray is not designed to secure the child in the chair. Always use the harness in combination with the tray for added safety.

    Table
Be aware of the risk that a large frame under the tabletop makes it easier for children to push their legs against the table and tilt backwards. The Grow With Me Chair is designed for use with dining tables that are 28–30 inches (72–76 cm) in height.

    Footrest
Ensure that the forward edge of the footrest NEVER exceeds the front tip of the chair legs at floor level. If the footrest extends too far, it may cause the chair to become unstable when a child climbs in or out of the chair.

Warning: When the footrest is positioned close to the metal rod, there will be a small gap between the inside of the chair legs and the metal rod. This is normal. Do NOT use excessive force to make the metal rod touch the side legs of the chair, as this could damage the chair and/or make it unstable.

Rough Surfaces (Uneven Floors, Rugs, and Tiles)
To prevent the Grow With Me Chair from tilting when pushed backwards, it is equipped with plastic gliders under the legs. These gliders allow the chair to slide backwards and return to an upright position when pushed. For the gliders to work properly, the chair must be placed on a level, stable surface that has a certain degree of hardness. Uneven or rough surfaces, such as soft rugs or carpets with long, loose ends, are generally unsuitable for chairs used by toddlers. Although the Grow With Me Chair is recognised for its stability, these conditions still apply.

Keep the gliders and the floor clean to ensure optimal function. For increased stability, an extended rear glider, known as the Grow With Me Extended Glider Set, has been developed. We recommend using the Grow With Me Extended Glider Set when the chair is used with the Grow With Me Harness or Grow With Me Baby Set, especially if the chair is placed on soft carpets or when the child can push against a frame underneath the tabletop with their feet.

READ CAREFULLY BEFORE ASSEMBLING YOUR GROW WITH ME CHAIR

This user guide provides clear, step-by-step instructions, along with illustrations, to help you assemble your Grow With Me Chair and Grow With Me Baby Set.

    • Important: The Grow With Me Baby Set should only be used with the seat plate positioned in the first groove from the top of the chair.

Please ensure that you follow each step carefully to ensure the safe assembly and use of the chair.

    Parts List

    • 10 Metal screws
    • 6 Metal nuts
    • 1 Allen Key
    • 2 Curved backrests
    • 2 Metal cross bars
    • 1 Wooden base cross bar
    • 1 Seat plate
    • 1 Footrest
    • 2 Legs

    Assembly Instructions

    A. Attach the wooden base cross bar to the legs, ensuring the grooves face inward. It is important to insert the shallow end of the metal nuts first.

    B. Insert the screws and tighten them firmly.

    C. Attach the two metal crossbars, but tighten them loosely for now.

    D. Attach the two curved backrests. Insert the metal nuts with the shallow end facing inward and tighten them loosely.
NOTE: The backrest with the strap should go into the bottom slots.

    E. Slide the seat plate and footrest into the slots, ensuring the straight edge faces forward. Adjust the height and depth of both the seat plate and footrest to suit the size of your child (refer to the seat plate and footrest adjustment instructions in this user guide).

    F. Place the chair on a level surface. Once the chair is positioned, tighten all screws firmly, following the order given above.

    SEAT AND FOOTREST ADJUSTMENT

It is essential to adjust the height and depth of the seat and footrest to suit the size of your child. Regularly check the settings as your child grows—at least once a year. The seat plate and footrest must be fully supported by the grooves on the sides (not halfway supported).

    Seat Placement

    • Height: The seat height is correct when your child’s elbows are level with the tabletop.
    • Depth: The seat depth is correct when your child’s back is against the backrest, with the seat supporting ¾ of the thighs. For optimal comfort, ensure the seat depth is not too deep. Leave a comfortable gap between the front edge of the seat and the back of your child’s knee.

Note: For children aged 6–8 months, the seat may seem smaller than expected! The seat plate should not extend more than 1½–2 inches (4–5 cm) beyond the chair’s side legs.

    Footrest Placement

    • Height: The footrest should be set at the correct height when the soles of your child’s feet can rest flat on the footrest, with the thighs touching the seat.
    • Depth: Ensure that the forward edge of the footrest NEVER exceeds the front tip of the chair legs at floor level. This is essential for the stability of the chair.

Table of Age and Approximate Adjustment

This table provides a rough guide for adjusting the seat plate and footrest according to your child’s age. As children vary in size, always ensure that your child is seated correctly based on the instructions provided in this user guide.

12 years/Adult N/A (Footrest used as seat) Height: 4-5 (from top of chair)

Note: When using the footrest as a seat for adults, the seat plate is not applicable.

    RESTRAINT SYSTEM OPERATION

Always use the restraint system when the seat plate is positioned in the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grooves from the top.

    Steps for securing your child:

    1. Place your child in the seat.
    2. Position the shoulder and waist straps:
      • Pull each arm through the loops formed by the shoulder and waist straps.
      • Place the straps across the child’s lap.
    3. Attach the crotch strap:
      • Position the crotch strap between the child’s legs.
      • Attach the shoulder straps to the crotch strap.
    4. Adjust the straps:
      • Adjust the length of the shoulder, waist, and crotch straps to secure the child safely in the seat.
      • Ensure the crotch strap is adjusted so the connector is at the child’s waist height.

The restraint system can be removed once your child reaches 36 months and is able to sit safely without the need for a restraint.
