About Us
Niji Bébé was founded in September 2021 by a mamma, for mammas and bébés. The name Niji Bébé was chosen as a tribute to both the loss of a pregnancy and the joy of a new blessing. We hope that through our journey, families—ours included—can celebrate the blessing of a healthy child while honouring the memory of those we’ve lost.
Niji Bébé translates to 'Rainbow Baby'—where Niji means 'rainbow' in Japanese and Bébé means 'baby' in French. The term refers to a baby born after the parents experience a pregnancy loss. The rainbow symbol is a reminder that, even after dark times, beauty and hope can emerge. With its warm, earthy brown hue representing the different types of wood, this colour choice also reflects our passion for all things wooden here at Niji Bébé. Our own experience remains close to our hearts, and our work is a constant source of gratitude and grounding.
Our mission is to provide affordable, high-quality baby and kids' products to families everywhere. We began by offering budget-friendly baby and children’s clothing on Facebook Live before expanding into group buys, offering a range of items from bathtime essentials to educational toys, indoor climbing frames, Montessori furniture, and more.
Today, our primary focus is on high-quality wooden toys and furniture that align with the Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches to early childhood education—both of which our founder has a deep personal interest in. These educational toys promote child-centred learning and play a vital role in supporting the holistic development of children, fostering emotional, social, cognitive, and physical growth, with the aim of encouraging independence and critical thinking. As wooden toys are often prohibitively expensive, we have worked tirelessly to source cost-effective manufacturing solutions without compromising on quality, ensuring our products remain both accessible and reasonably priced.
We have also expanded our range to include our own line of products, such as Vegan Leather Diaper Bags, Wooden Wobble Balance Boards, Silicone Placemats, and many more exciting additions to come.
